For many years, I have been trying to understand and master the dental health of my mouth and teeth. The combination of coconut oil and the oil of oregano has been one of my most treasured and amazing discoveries.
At night, before I go to bed, I floss and brush my teeth, then I add a dollop of coconut oil and 1-2 drops of the oil of oregano to my mouth. Start with one drop of oil of oregano and see how you find it. Oil of oregano can be very strong, depending on the concentration you have. I always add the coconut oil to my mouth first, it tones down the oil of oregano significantly.
From there, I follow the normal oil-pulling technique. The results have been wonderful and amazing!

What is Oil Pulling
Oil pulling has been around for eons and has been extensively used in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years.
The main concept behind oil pulling is that natural oils, usually coconut oil or sesame oil, are swished and pulled through the teeth, mouth, and gums. Preferably, for 20 minutes or more. When you are done, you spit the oil into a tissue and discard it. You do this at least once a day, usually after you brush your teeth at night before bed. It is perfectly fine to oil pull multiple times a day depending on your dental health issues.
The oils have very powerful antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. As you swish and pull the oils through your teeth and gums, the oils pull out unwanted bacteria and toxins. The practice is also very helpful for reducing inflammation, increasing blood flow to the gums, hardening enamel, and whitening teeth. It leaves you with a very healthy, clean, and soothing feeling in your mouth and gums.

What is the Best Oil to Use
I have been using organic, cold-pressed coconut oil for years and have discovered many incredible benefits from using it.
One is that it hardens enamel and whitens teeth. If you ever chip a tooth, just put a glob of coconut oil on it. Another option is to chew on a hard chuck, holding it on the tooth as long as you can till it melts away. The sensitivity will be gone in short order.
Regular oil pulling has the same effect, but just with all your teeth on a regular basis. It’s quite amazing; give it a try!
Another amazing tidbit is that, unlike commercial mouthwashes that kill all the bacteria in your mouth, including the beneficial ones, which destabilize the microbial balance in your mouth, leaving you open to all kinds of infections and disease, coconut oil and essential oils not only get rid of the bad, unwanted bacteria but also protect and establish a healthy, thriving environment for the healthy bacteria to live in. Bringing your mouth’s microbiome back into a natural balance. And that is what it is all about, if you ask me!
I have never actually tried sesame oil, but it is an extremely prized oil in Ayurvedic medicine and is said to work very well for many healing remedies, including oil pulling.
So, as you can tell, I have been very impressed with using coconut oil in my mouth along with the oil-pulling practice. But when I started experimenting with essential oils and combining the oil of oregano with my coconut oil, it was a game changer!!
Why Oil of Oregano
The oil of oregano has incredible healing properties. Along with other essential oils, it has the ability to penetrate deep into our tissues. It also possesses powerful antibacterial, anti-fungal, and, antiviral properties. Oil of oregano has also been used as a natural antibiotic for many different infections.

Conclusion
The combination of the oil of oregano and coconut oil being used in a daily practice feels like an insurance policy for my overall dental health. There is something about the combination of the two oils that is powerful and amazing! I had a lot of dental work done as a kid and have to keep a keen eye on what is going on in my mouth. I can’t even tell you how proud and happy it makes me to have the dental hygienist actually ask me what I am doing! Because my teeth and gums are so healthy!
Give it a try; you won’t go back, and your gums and teeth will thank you!
Have a fabulous day!
